The White House Guest House

We drove from Fort William during Storm Amy and were very happy to arrive at the White House. We were immediately greeted by Prue and welcomed in. Our rooms were clean and very comfortable; the beds especially so. Tea/coffee supplies in the rooms were plentiful, and the toiletries in the bathroom were lovely. One of the reasons we chose the White House was because it is dog friendly. We had 3 dogs with us and it was obvious that Prue loves dogs and she was great with them. Breakfast was a full English with options of yoghurt, fruit and cereal as well. Duck treats provided for the dogs. We would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at The White House, whilst recently attending a family wedding nearby in Penrith. The period house has low ceilings and wooden beams downstairs, in the lounge there is book case and games. We stayed in a family room (comfortable double and single bed), which was nicely decorated and included all the amenities we could need including bath towels, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities & biscotti biscuits and a room with a view of the countryside. We saw a couple of bunny rabbits in the garden. We also liked the bathroom as it has a full size bath and shower overhead and is spacious and very clean. They provide delightfully scented Cole & Lewis soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion to use. Breakfast was also delicious each morning in the dining room. Full English breakfast or Creamy porridge with fresh fruit! I can’t recommend this B&B highly enough, if you are looking for a relaxing break in the Lake District. It is also dog friendly and they provide a list of nearby dog friendly pubs which is helpful. Thank you to Prue for looking after us so well and also giving us excellent tips for a short tour of nearby Ullswater and the Aira Force waterfall, my daughter really enjoyed this and we had a very memorable trip.

The property is a characterful traditional construction well maintained and in excellent decorative order. The double bedroom was comfortable and roomy, with an en-suite shower room which had everything needed. The breakfast was exceptional and served to me at 7.00 am at my request as I wanted an early start.

Very convenient location for stop off between Scotland & England. Very friendly host Exceptionally clean. Comfortable bed & very substantial hearty breakfast freshly cooked with a good selection of other cereal/fruits etc. Plenty of safe parking on site. Close proximity to a superb Gastro Pub/Restaurant for evening meals. Excellent value for money.

Everything - very well pleased with finding the property. Room was very large with a selection of beds - a family room. Bed was extremely comfortable, with a mattress and pillows you could just sink into, loads of hot water and large towels. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Greatly enjoyed my stay.
